“Bilder der blauen Stunde”

Die fragilen und kleinformatigen Collagen, welche mit einem Beamer auf eine grosse Wandfläche projiziert werden, dienten mir ehemalig als Inspiration für meine Ölgemälde und waren als Vorarbeiten und Kompositionen von Figuren, Orten, Flächen und Farben konzipiert. Es entstanden über mehrere Monate und aufgrund des fehlenden Ateliers während der Corona-Pandemie neue Bilderwelten, welche nun in ihrer übergrossen Projektionsform die Wucht alter Diabilder wieder aufleben lassen. Alle benutzten Dias sind ein Geschenk der weissensee Kunsthochschule aus dem alten Kunstgeschichtsarchiv für ehemalige Unterrichtszwecke. Somit handelt es sich um Reproduktionen bereits bestehender künstlerischer Werke (Malereien und Plastiken). Auffallend ist die grosse Zahl längst unbekannter und vergessener sowjetischer, kommunistischer und osteuropäischer Künstler, welche mir teilweise unbekannt vorkommen, obwohl ich ein enges Verhältnis zu der Tschechischen Republik und der osteuropäischen Kunst habe, da es sich um meine Heimatsorte handelt. Die persönliche Auseinandersetzung mit dem Archiv, den Namen der längst vergessenen KünstlerInnen und ihrer Werke spiegeln meine tägliche Auseinandersetzung mit meiner persönlichen Geschichte, der Vergangenheit Osteuropas und dokumentieren gleichzeitig eine wichtige Epoche in der Vermittlung der Kunstgeschichte an der weissensee Kunsthochschule. (Alle Dias sind handbeschriftet von ehemaligen ProfessorInnen). In meiner Arbeit bediene ich mich bereits bestehender Werke um eigene, neue Bilderlandschaften zu erschaffen. Dabei enteigne ich die Werke der KünstlerInnen für eigene Zwecke und rufe sie gleichzeitig zurück aus ihrer Vergessenheit und gebe ihnen Raum und Zeit neu betrachtet und aufgenommen zu werden. 

The fragile and small-format collages, which are projected onto a large wall surface with a beamer, used to serve as inspiration for my oil paintings and were conceived as preliminary works and compositions of figures, places, surfaces and colours. Over several months and due to the lockdown during the Corona Pandemic, new worlds of images were created, which now in their oversized projection form revive the force of old slide images. All the slides used are a gift from the weissensee Kunsthochschule from the old art history archive for former teaching purposes. Thus, they are reproductions of already existing artistic works (paintings and sculptures). What is striking is the large number of long unknown and forgotten Soviet, Communist and East European artists, some of whom seem unfamiliar to me, although I have a close relationship with the Czech Republic and East European art, as these are my home countries. My personal involvement with the archive, the names of long forgotten artists and their works reflect my daily involvement with my personal history, the past of Eastern Europe and at the same time they document an important era in the teaching of art history at the Weissensee Kunsthochschule. (All diapositives are hand-lettered by former professors). In my work I make use of existing works to create my own new pictorial landscapes. In doing so, I expropriate the artists' works for my own purposes and at the same time call them back from oblivion and give them space and time to be viewed and absorbed anew.
